![]() Leota is originally from Huntington Beach, California, but came to Utah to be closer to the outdoors – where she loves to ski, camp, and hike. On campus, Leota is involved in the Beekeeping Association, Student Collective of Allied Planners and Ecologists (SCAPE), and Greek life. In the lab, Leota is researching the geochemistry of sediment from Ethiopia to learn how humans interact with their environments and how these interactions change throughout time.

![]() Rachel is in her senior year at the University of Utah. She is studying Geography with and emphasis in Biogeography and Ecology and minoring in Anthropology. Rachel is from Salt Lake City and has grown up loving the outdoors. She loves to hike and her favorite place is Grand Teton National Park where she has traveled to every summer for the past 12 years. She enjoys doing research and hopes to continue her education to work with the changing environment.

B.S., Environmental and Sustainability Studies, 2018 B.S., Geography, 2018 Drew started working with Dr. Power in summer 2017 as an undergraduate researcher. He is currently focused on analyzing frozen lake sediment cores in the Uinta mountains for both charcoal and pollen to understand how long it takes an ecosystem to recover following a disturbance event.
